Testing and the Annual Formula SAE Competition

Similar to the F1 winter testing before each season starts, having the driver sit in the cockpit for long-distance testing is crucial for success at Formula SAE competitions both before and after the car is fully built and ready to race. As the nature of the competition becomes more and more technically demanding, every hour spent on data collection and drivers' feedback is time well spent.

After months of preparation and experiencing the ups and downs of building a formula-style racing car from scratch, members of the Mizzou Racing Team traveled to Michigan International Speedway in Brooklyn, Michigan for the four-day competition starting from May 11.

The team rides the fine lines set by the Formula SAE regulations and attempt to assemble a vehicle that would stand at the forefront of the competition. It has a roster of roughly 20 students currently. Each of them contributes to conceiving, designing and fabricating Formula-style vehicles. These talents are the minds behind the wheel.
